About SmallQRCode
SmallQRCode started with a business card. Our founder, a developer and business owner, needed a QR code for his own cards, went looking for a generator, and ran into the same wall again and again: create an account first, then discover that the free download is a low-resolution file, and the usable one sits behind a subscription. A pattern that costs nothing to generate was being sold back to people who just needed it once.
So he built the alternative: a QR code generator that works the way the task actually deserves. Full-quality downloads from the first click, no account, no watermark, nothing that expires, built by someone who needed it himself and uses it for his own print materials, not by a marketing department.
SmallQRCode is a free collection of QR code tools. It exists because the QR code generators that dominate search results have quietly become account funnels: sign-up walls before you can download a PNG, watermarks on “free” codes, ads shown to the people scanning your codes, and codes that expire when a subscription lapses.
Generating a QR code needs no account or server-side processing of your QR inputs. Our generator runs in your browser without uploading those inputs to create the code. Website analytics, error diagnostics and optional contact messages are separate and can involve personal data. We explain those practices in our Privacy Policy.
Alongside the tools is a library of guides covering sizes, printing, formats and troubleshooting, written to be genuinely useful, not to fill a keyword quota.
How it works
The tool comes first
You should be able to create a QR code before you've read a single marketing paragraph. On every page here, the generator is the first thing you get.
QR content is generated locally
The generator processes links, passwords and contact details in your browser without uploading them for generation. Anyone who can read a shared QR code can decode its contents.
Free means free
No account, no watermark, no scan limits, no “HD upgrade”, no codes that stop working after 100 scans. Static QR codes are permanent by nature, and we don’t pretend otherwise.
Honest information
Our guides explain how QR codes actually work, including the trade-offs (like static vs dynamic) that most generators would rather you didn't think about.
What’s inside a QR code made here
Every code is a static QR code: the content is encoded directly in the pattern and the code works forever, independently of this website. Download it once and you never need us again. That’s the point. Read more in do QR codes expire?
How we keep it free
Running the site costs very little precisely because most processing happens in your browser. In the future we may show a small amount of non-intrusive advertising to cover costs: never pop-ups, fake download buttons, or ads that get in the way of the tool.
What’s next
The platform is built to grow: a QR scanner and decoder (also browser-based), more content types, and deeper guides are on the roadmap. If something you need is missing, tell us. Feature requests go straight into planning.
