What does the person see when they scan it?
WhatsApp opens a chat with your number. If you added a pre-filled message, it sits in the input box — they can edit it or send it as-is.
Why do I need the country code?
WhatsApp links (wa.me) only work with full international numbers. If the number doesn't work, double-check the country code: +1 for the US, +44 for the UK, +49 for Germany, and so on.
Does it add me to their contacts?
No — it just opens the chat. Your number gets saved only if they choose to save it.
Can I link to a WhatsApp group?
Group joins use WhatsApp's invite links rather than phone numbers. Since those links contain a long invite token, the URL QR code tool is the better fit — paste the group's invite link there.
Does it work with WhatsApp Business?
Yes — WhatsApp Business uses the same phone-based chat links, so business numbers work exactly the same.
